In the city of Almaty, at the initiative of the Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy, a creative concert titled “Zhambyl’s Songs, Dina’s Kyuis” was held, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great akyn Zhambyl Zhabayev and the 165th anniversary of the outstanding kuyshi Dina Nurpeisova.
During the evening, the audience was presented with a concert program accompanied by the national orchestra, featuring zhyrau recitations and songs of Zhambyl Zhabayev, as well as kyuis from the rich creative heritage of Dina Nurpeisova. The musical evening vividly demonstrated the continuity of traditional Kazakh art, revealing the deep connection between poetic expression and kuy performance.
As part of the concert, a traveling exhibition of archival photo documents and historical materials dedicated to the life and work of Zhambyl Zhabayev and Dina Nurpeisova was organized in collaboration with the Central State Archive of Film, Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition featured rare archival photographs and historical documents reflecting the life journey and creative legacy of these outstanding figures of Kazakh culture.
The concert featured People’s Artists of Kazakhstan Ramazan Stamgaziyev and Aigul Ulkenbayeva, recipient of the “Eren Enbegi Ushin” medal Sagdat Akzholova, as well as laureates of international and national competitions Moldir Koyysova and Shattyk Uatkhan.
The Artistic Director of the Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy is Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Batyrzhan Myktybayev; the Chief Conductor is Order of “Qurmet” recipient Abilai Tilepbergen; and the conductors are Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Zheksen Aisin and Naryn Kazhygali. The musical evening became a яркое культурное событие celebrating the rich heritage of Kazakh kuy and song art.
