In Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, the international conference “Akhmet Zhubanov and the Musical Heritage of the Turkic World” was held to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of Akhmet Kuanovich Zhubanov — the founder of Kazakhstan’s professional musical art, People’s Artist of the Kazakh SSR, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, and an outstanding scholar, composer, and conductor. The event also featured the exhibition “A Life Transformed into Melody”, dedicated to his life and creative legacy.
The forum was organized by the Akhmet and Gaziza Zhubanov Memorial Museum of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). The event brought together representatives of TURKSOY, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Türkiye, scholars, and cultural figures. Participants highlighted Akhmet Zhubanov’s significant role in the cultural and spiritual space of the Turkic world and emphasized the enduring value of his invaluable scholarly and artistic heritage.
The international event was also attended by the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments, the first professional folk instruments orchestra in the history of Kazakhstan, founded by Akhmet Zhubanov. Performing in a chamber ensemble format, the orchestra presented a special concert program featuring works from the creative legacy of the great musician, scholar, and educator.
