A commemorative evening titled “KUY URAN” was held in Almaty in honour of the 80th anniversary of the outstanding kyui composer and performer Karshyga Akhmediyarov.

The event, aimed at preserving and promoting the creative legacy of the master of traditional musical art, became a significant cultural milestone in the country. During the evening, the finest works of the composer were performed, and his role in the development of national musical culture, as well as his contribution to the preservation of traditional performing art, was highlighted.

The name of Karshyga Akhmediyarov is inseparably linked with the history of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Folk Instruments Orchestra — the country’s first national orchestra. For many years, he worked with the ensemble as a dombra player (kyui performer), concertmaster, soloist, and conductor, making a significant contribution to its artistic development.

Karshyga Akhmediyarov’s outstanding performing mastery contributed to strengthening the prestige of Kazakh kyui art. Alongside his concert activities, he conducted academic research in the field of national music history and traditional performance, leaving behind valuable scholarly works that enriched national musicology.

The concert featured the participation of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Folk Instruments Orchestra, Yerbolat Akhmediyarov, Tanat Sadenov, Akboken Temir, Aktoty Akhmediyarova, Aziza Abdireim, Bakytzhan Duisengaziyev, Baibakty Idirbay, Zhantilek Zhumageldiyev, Asylbek Zhorabekov, Uali Muratkazin, and Askar Rysbek. The artists presented a rich and diverse concert program dedicated to the memory of the outstanding master of traditional musical art.
